Development of a haptic teleoperation solution enabling painters to reproduce precise gestures remotely, improving safety and reducing RSI.

Project summary

In direct collaboration with Bombardier, CTA designed a proof-of-concept integrating a haptic teleoperation interface for robotized painting of complex surfaces. The project involved capturing the movements of painting experts, faithfully reproducing these gestures using a new-generation haptic device, and validating the whole in a real industrial environment. This approach demonstrates the potential of teleoperation to improve operator safety, reduce musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) linked to repetitive movements, and deliver finishing quality in line with aeronautical standards.
