CTA: a catalyst for innovation in advanced manufacturing processes

The Aerospace Technology Center (CTA), affiliated with Cégep Édouard-Montpetit, is proud to announce the creation of a new group of organizations dedicated to innovation in advanced manufacturing processes. The new innovation catalyst is made possible by a three-year financial contribution from the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Nature et technologies (FRQNT).

"The aim of this strategic alliance between the Centres collégiaux de transfert technologique (CCTT), companies and universities is to act as an incubator for applied research into advanced manufacturing processes, by bringing together key players in Quebec," says Francis Archambault, CTA General Manager.

To this end, the group of thirteen researchers from the world of higher education will be able to count on the participation of professionals and industrial engineers from Rio Tinto Aluminium and Tekna. Research will focus on two main areas: Sustainable processes, materials and applications, and Implementation processes.

The group will be made up of the following organizations:

  • Quebec Composite Development Center (CDCQ) - Cégep de Saint-Jérôme
  • Quebec Metallurgy Center (CMQ) - Cégep de Trois-Rivières
  • Aerospace Technology Center (CTA) - Cégep Édouard-Montpetit
  • COALIA - Cégep de Thetford
  • CTT Group - Cégep de Saint-Hyacinthe
  • Rio Tinto Aluminium
  • Tekna
  • Sherbrooke University
  • Université du Québec à Chicoutimi
  • Laval University

This catalyst for innovation will strengthen the cluster of research excellence in advanced manufacturing processes and contribute to the development of this priority niche for Quebec, by pooling college and university expertise to meet the needs of the practical world.
