Senior specialist in artificial intelligence

Your mandate

The CTA, a non-profit organization, is looking for a Senior Artificial Intelligence Specialist for a regular full-time position. You'll be working in an innovative, dynamic, inclusive and friendly environment with employees with diverse expertise on stimulating applied research projects, using state-of-the-art tools to deliver quality work to the highest industry standards, in the field of aeronautics and space, with several industrial partners including the most recognized names in this major industry in Greater Montreal.

Your main responsibilities

You will report to the Director of the Air Mobility and Systems (MAS) business unit, and work as part of a dynamic R&D team. More specifically, your responsibilities will include:

• Implement and lead projects defined by the CTA team;
• Design, develop and deploy end-to-end MLOps pipelines (training, validation, model versioning, continuous integration and deployment, production monitoring);
• Process, clean and add value to experimental data from test benches, on-board sensors and laboratory equipment in an aerospace context;
• Design and deploy artificial intelligence agents on edge computing platforms (embedded boards, hardware gas pedals, resource-constrained systems);
• Develop AI solutions in computer vision and sensor fusion for aerospace applications;
• Contribute to the development of digital twins integrating machine learning models;
• Optimize models (quantification, pruning, distillation) for efficient execution at the periphery;
• Provide technical supervision for junior engineers and interns, and act as a senior referent on AI projects;
• Identify and participate in technology transfer activities with companies;
• Help customers realize their projects and provide technical support;
• Document work, write technical reports and present results to partners;
• All other related tasks.

Your profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer engineering, software engineering, electrical engineering, applied mathematics or a related discipline (or equivalent).
• A PhD or specialization in machine learning is an asset.

Your experience

• Minimum 7 years' professional experience in artificial intelligence or machine learning, ideally acquired in a company;
• Demonstrated experience in developing and operating MLOps pipelines (MLflow, Kubeflow, DVC, Airflow or equivalent);
• Knowledge of containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes);
• Proficiency in Python and the main deep learning frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow);
• Relevant experience in the following fields of expertise: processing and analysis of experimental data (time series, sensor signals, multimodal data), design and deployment of AI agents (LLM, NLP, RAG, autonomous agents), computer vision (detection, segmentation, tracking) and sensor or data fusion (cameras, LiDAR, IMU, GNSS).
• Experience in deploying models on edge computing platforms (NVIDIA Jetson, Google Coral, Raspberry Pi, microcontrollers or equivalent);

Your assets, skills and abilities

• Experience in digital twin development and simulation (NVIDIA Omniverse, Unity, Unreal or equivalent);
• Experience in cloud computing (AWS, Azure, GCP) and managed AI services;
• Experience with model optimization and compression tools (TensorRT, ONNX, OpenVINO);
• Knowledge of aerospace data protocols and formats (ARINC, MAVLink, etc.);
• Contributions to open source projects, scientific publications or patents;
• Experience in mentoring or technical team management;
• Excellent command of French and English (written and oral communication). Knowledge of English is required to ensure effective communication with certain English-speaking clients and partners;
• Excellent teamwork skills;
• Rigorous workmanship.
• Ability to learn quickly and be resourceful.
