Metrology project manager
Your mandate
For its Metal Fabrication and Metrology sector, the CTA is looking for a Metrology Project Manager (regular full-time position). You'll be working on stimulating, innovative projects in the aerospace sector, with a number of industrial partners including some of the most recognized names in this major industry in Greater Montreal. You'll be involved in a wide range of applied research projects, and benefit from a friendly work environment and state-of-the-art tools to deliver quality work to the highest industry standards.
Your main responsibilities
You will report to the Area Manager, Metal Fabrication and Metrology, and work as part of a dynamic research and development team. You will be called upon to perform the following tasks, among others:
- Identify, plan and carry out applied metrology research projects, including new contact and non-contact inspection technologies
- Identify requirements for various projects and take charge of drawing up test plans, executing and processing test data.
- Participate in drawing up proposals to customers and partners, defining the required deadlines and associated completion costs
- Operate, prepare, program, calibrate and maintain CMMs and measuring instruments in the inspection laboratory
- Collaborate on grant applications, project reports and technical reports
- Represent CTA in networking activities related to aeronautics and more specifically to metrology
- Train new equipment users (ongoing training);
- Any other task related to the sector
Your profile
- MSc or Bsc in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent with a strong metrology component.
Your experience
- Minimum 5 years' professional experience in metrology
- Knowledge of programming and use of Mitutoyo MCOSMOS, minimum 3 years
- Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing according to ASME Y14.5-2009 (GD&T)
- 3D design and modeling
- Plan reading and functional dimensioning
- Analysis, data processing and report writing
- Rigorous workmanship.
Your assets, skills and abilities
- Knowledge of MODUS 1.9 programming or higher
- Using the Renishaw REVO head
- Using PolyWorks software
- Operating experience (MMT/CMM) ZEISS
- Using CATIA V5
- Experience in digitization and reverse engineering
- CREAFORM system knowledge (VXelements Suite)
- Excellent command of French and English (written and oral communication)
- Ability to work in a team
- Ability to learn quickly and be resourceful
- Excellent technical writing skills in French (English is an asset).
