Engine test bench engineer

Your mandate

For its sector Alternative propulsionthe CTA is looking for a Engine test bench engineer (regular position evening full-time). You'll be working on stimulating, innovative projects in the aerospace field, with a number of industrial partners including some of the most recognized names in this major industry in Greater Montreal. You'll be involved in a wide range of applied research projects, and benefit from a friendly work environment and state-of-the-art tools to deliver quality work to the highest industry standards.

Your main responsibilities

The Engine Test Bench Engineer will report to his/her Area Manager and work as part of a dynamic R&D team. You will be called upon to perform the following tasks, among others:

  • Manage test engine configuration;
  • Plan and monitor motor assembly;
  • Assist with the installation and removal of the engine on the test bench, as well as the connection and disconnection of associated systems (fluids, instrumentation, electricity, etc.);
  • Plan and execute tests;
  • Investigate instrumentation and data acquisition problems;
  • Detect anomalies during testing using control panels and intervene quickly;
  • Process and document test results;
  • Provide validation data to analytical research groups;
  • Develop strategies for evaluating and monitoring the quality of the data provided by the engines tested;
  • Adapt procedures, techniques and/or equipment to meet test requirements;
  • Demonstrate initiative in relation to assigned objectives and tasks.

Your profile

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, automated production or equivalent;
  • Knowledge of technical drawings, instrumentation, data acquisition systems and control systems.

Your experience

0 to 5 years' recent experience in the aerospace industry (planning and carrying out engine tests, operations, technical support on test benches).

Your assets, skills and abilities

  • Experience in engine assembly and disassembly on test benches, and associated systems;
  • Competence in parameterization and start-up of data acquisition systems;
  • Experience in engine testing as part of a development team;
  • Excellent ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Willingness to learn and progress in the field;
  • Good writing skills;
  • Knowledge of the Office suite, particularly Excel;
  • Fluency in written and spoken French, reading and writing English required.
