Aeronautical engineer
Your mandate
The CTA, a not-for-profit organization, is looking for an Aeronautical Engineer for a regular full-time position. You'll be working in an innovative, dynamic, inclusive and friendly environment with employees with diverse expertise on stimulating applied research projects and with state-of-the-art tools to deliver quality work to the highest industry standards, in the aeronautics and space field, with several industrial partners including some of the most recognized names in this major industry in Greater Montreal.
Your main responsibilities
As soon as possible, you will join the DISA (Aeronautical Systems Development and Integration) team, under the supervision of the Director of the Air Mobility and Systems Business Unit, within a dynamic research and development environment. More specifically, your responsibilities will include:
- Carry out projects defined by the CTA team;
- Design, program and assemble fixed- and rotary-wing UAV components;
- Carry out projects using drones as tools for inspection, surveillance and other industrial applications;
- Design, assemble and modify unmanned aerial systems (UAVs) and their electronic and PCB subsystems;
- Pilot drones during tests, demonstrations and field operations, in compliance with current regulations;
- Participate in technology transfer activities with companies and support customers in carrying out their projects;
- Provide technical support to partners and team members;
- All other related tasks.
Your profile
Bachelor's or Master's degree in robotics engineering, electrical/electronics engineering or a related discipline (or equivalent), with a strong focus on electronic design and programming.
Your experience
- Relevant experience in the design, assembly and modification of fixed- and rotary-wing UAVs;
- Experience in electronic systems and printed circuit board (PCB) design;
- Knowledge of regulations applicable to unmanned aerial systems (Transport Canada, RPAS / SATP);
- Drone piloting experience (Transport Canada SATP pilot certificate a strong asset);
- Participation in a student drone group (e.g. university competitions) or equivalent experience is an asset;
- Proficiency in embedded programming (C/C++, Python) and autopilots (PX4, ArduPilot or equivalent);
- Use of the Office suite: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook;
- Rigorous workmanship.
Your assets, skills and abilities
- - Knowledge of electronic design tools (Altium Designer, KiCad or equivalent);
- Knowledge of mechanical CAD tools (CATIA V5, SolidWorks or equivalent);
- Experience in sensor integration (LiDAR, multispectral cameras, GNSS-RTK, IMU);
- Knowledge of ROS / ROS2 and MAVLink platforms;
- Experience in planning and executing drone inspection or surveillance missions;
- Excellent command of French and English (written and oral communication). Knowledge of English is required to ensure effective communication with certain English-speaking clients and partners;
- Excellent teamwork skills;
- Ability to learn quickly and be resourceful.
