Carried out in collaboration with C\u00e9gep \u00c9douard-Montpetit and its affiliated school, the \u00c9cole nationale d\u2019a\u00e9rotechnique (\u00c9NA), this project is part of the business plan for Espace A\u00e9ro, Quebec\u2019s aerospace innovation hub.<\/p>\n<p><img data-dominant-color=\"838390\" data-has-transparency=\"false\" style=\"--dominant-color: #838390;\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-11997 not-transparent\" src=\"https:\/\/aerocta.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/250716-cta-475-propulsionalternative-scaled.jpg\" alt width=\"489\" height=\"326\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 489px) 100vw, 489px\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Estimated at more than 17 million dollars, this project received combined financial support of 13.63 million dollars from the governments of Canada and Quebec: Canada Economic Development (CED) contributed approximately $7.58 million through the Regional Aerospace Recovery Initiative, while the Ministry of Economy, Innovation, and Energy (MEIE) provided $6.05 million through its Support Program for Research and Innovation Organizations.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This one-of-a-kind facility will serve a threefold purpose: it will enable the development of a new generation of engines that combine thermal and electrical energy, support numerous research and development projects, and serve as a training tool for future propulsion technicians and engineers.<\/p>\n<p><img data-dominant-color=\"7c7f83\" data-has-transparency=\"false\" style=\"--dominant-color: #7c7f83;\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-11999 not-transparent\" src=\"https:\/\/aerocta.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/250716-cta-484-propulsionalternative-scaled.jpg\" alt width=\"545\" height=\"364\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 545px) 100vw, 545px\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pratt &amp; Whitney Canada is the first industrial customer to use this new infrastructure. The design and manufacture of the equipment were entrusted to the Quebec-based company \u00c9quipement d\u2019essai a\u00e9rospatial CEL Lt\u00e9e, providing this small business with an opportunity to further showcase its expertise on the international stage.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">By acquiring this cutting-edge capability, the CTA is strengthening its role in supporting companies as they develop low-carbon engines\u2014a direct contribution to Espace A\u00e9ro\u2019s goal of positioning Quebec as a global leader in decarbonization, autonomy, and aviation safety.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>ABOUT THE AEROSPACE TECHNOLOGY CENTER (CTA)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As a nonprofit organization, the CTA supports businesses\u2014from small and medium-sized enterprises to large organizations\u2014in developing practical technological solutions.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Located in the heart of the Longueuil airport zone, on Montreal's South Shore, the CTA occupies 30,000 sq. ft. of modern facilities, with privileged access to more than 270,000 sq. ft. of space made available by the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ena.ca\/ecole-nationale-d-aerotechnique\/\">\u00c9cole nationale d'a\u00e9rotechnique (\u00c9NA)<\/a>. It is the only school in Quebec that trains aviation technicians, offering programs recognized by Transport Canada in the fields of aircraft maintenance, avionics, and aerospace engineering.
