They're working on the remotely operated aircraft of the future: CTA honored by the Journal de Montréal
The Journal de Montréal devotes a major report to the Centre technologique en aérospatiale (CTA) and its "aircraft of the future" project, a flying test bed capable of being operated remotely thanks to a new-generation avionics architecture. Read Francis Halin's article here:
The "Aeronautical Systems Development and Integration" team operates the aircraft-based flight test rig. Piper PA-31-350 Chieftain C-GCTA to test remote control, ground-air link and on-board avionics technologies under realistic conditions.
This project is powered by $2 million in funding from the Fonds des collèges de la Canada Foundation for Innovation and the Ministry of Higher Education, in collaboration with CMC Electronics and the Flight Test Center of Excellence. Together, these partners position the CTA as a neutral demonstration platform for technologies aimed at making aviation safer, more efficient and better adapted to the needs of remote communities.
